The annual fashion event that run in 2007 and 2008 in the virtual world of Second Life. The MFA’s main purpose was to celebrate young fashion designers around the globe who utilised Second Life. Each year, the event also helped raise funds for RFL and Doctors Without Borders.
2007 – Heaven & Hell
The 2007 MFA hosted 36 of Second Life’s biggest fashion names in a Heaven & Hell theme with prizes for Best Designer, Best New Comer and Best Goth Designer. The two day event attracted over 25,000 visitors from all over Second Life and included a memorial garden for those who lost their battle with cancer.
2008 – MFA Fashion Awards
For 2008 we aimed to make MFA bigger and better. Instead of selecting our own participants like we did the previous year, we instead asked the Second Life community to nominate labels in 5 different categories. The top 5 of each category was then invited to participate in the six day event by showcasing their creations, participate in fund raisers and fashion shows.
On the final day we held a live televised finally where the winners of each category were presented for 160 attending guests and over 60,000 viewers from around the world joining in via SLCN (Second Life Cable Network). We also were honored to have SpaceJunky playing for us live!
